They speculate you can get the Camaro and the LS1 package for $24,000!! If that is true Ford will get crushed. IMO Chevy needs to bring the Maro back. MAYBE Ford will up the performance bar w/ the Stang.

Before you say it, I know about the Shelby in 07, but if that article was even remotely close in price, Ford will lose many consumers.

GM need for the new version GTO to succeed (read: at least 50,000 sales this year) to pull the trigger on the new Camaro experiment (and no, I don't think they have a final styling plan yet). If the GTO can get the attention the econobox styling failed to garner the first year, the Camaro has a much better chance of making it. Another fly in the GM ointment is the fact that the GTO DOES exist, and thus Pontiac (another cash-strapped GM entity) is loathe to take a GTO competitor in house in the form of a new Firebird - which would of course make it easier to amortize the costs of developing the platform. If there is a ready explantion for the slow GM response to the dynamic 05 Mustang market splash, it is the product-line structure at Pontiac. They went cheap and shot from the hip with the GTO intro, and it tanked big time. The new upgrades are helping, but the bad intro year has hurt them. I don't have the sales ytd for the GTO, but I know they are doing far better than last year - yet, maybe not good enough...

Another problem for GM is the move by Cadillac into the sports end of the market. This has compressed their available space for a new Camaro (going hood-to-hood with BMW is cool - and the Led Zep riffs are pure marketing genius - but they are poaching on the potential loaded SS market).

GM has to make a move - and they seem willing to add an LS motor to anything with 4 wheels, so SOME Camaro will be arriving in the next few years.

Assuming GM isn't broken up and sold for scrap before. Dumping Oldsmobile is only step one.

i guess those LS1 and LS2 motors have a lot of power for how cheap they are, a couple of their cars have had them.

I dont like Pontiac and never had, i dont really like the gto, does anybody think their new gto is a good car?

im surprise GM is smart enough to actually design a car and not just rebadge the GTO/holden, and bring the price down a little bit

My buddy has one. It is a very nice riding car and it is very nice on the inside. The styling is bland but it is not hideous looking like most other GM designs. It is overall a nice car IMO.

the only pontiac iwould get is a transam ws6 i would take that over a stang anyday they are beautful cars and pretty fast

chevy cant make the same mistake this time. I hope they will continue this car. if they make a camaro, they gotta make a trans am.
