Newbie needs advice on potential GT purchase
Hello Everyone,
I've been lurking here for a long time and finally decided to join. Tomorrow I'm going to test drive a 2006 GT. I've been pre-approved for credit and my insurance quote was a reasonable 480 bucks every 6 months. The GT costs $18,000. It's my first color choice (Tungsten), has leather sets, and a 6CD changer. The only thing that has me on the fence is that it has 45,000 miles (single owner, not a rental). I've been wanting a GT for several years but a new one around here can't be had for much less than $30,000. Considering all the things I like about it above (and also that is rare to find a used GT around here), I wonder if you all think the mileage is a big issue. Thanks!
P.S. No matter how many times I edit this message, my apostrophes end up as quotation marks...LOL!

RE: Newbie needs advice on potential GT purchase
It seems to me that I see a lot of other 05-08 Mustangs for sale in the same price range with lower mileage. I guess it all depends on what kind of driving you have planned. If it's an everyday driver and you plan on putting 12-15000 miles per year on the car then I'd say that mileage seems a bit high. If you want to make it a weekend cruiser, then it really depends on how comfortable you are with the mileage.
On a side note my father has a blue 05 GT with only 10,000 original miles it's an 05 GT premium, FULLY loaded with a 5 speed, 3:55 posi rear, and Bullet rims and he wants to sell that car for $18,500.00.

IMO 45,000 is not low miles but not high either. I bought my "06" GT just shy of 40,000 on it, but I also added a warranty to cover me up to 102,000. If you ask me it was a easy decision, getting a great car for a little less that is covered just as if it was new. Good Luck with your decision.

I actually seem to be talking myself out of all mods I was planning! I thought about a Roush hood scoop, but I'm on the fence right now. I was set on getting a GT that already had a scoop, but now I'm getting used to mine not having one.
I had also planned on getting louvers, but I find myself looking out the quarter panel windows a lot more than I thought I would. So maybe some SHR louvers down the road. Looks like the only appearance mod I'm definitely doing for now is just a blackout panel.
No performance mods for awhile, merely because the car is already so far beyond the 12-year-old, sputtering Chevy S-10 it's replacing.
Looks like I'm really happy with a stock Mustang for now! I'm guess that will change later on.
