Smile Hello from Cincinnati

Hello! I am a new user here, coming from Cincinnati. I just watched a TV show where they restored a classic Mustang, and it got my brain all kicked up and energized about my own car.

It's a 1968 Fastback, which my father purchased when he was a young lad in 1974. He did some work on it, keeping it up to date and improving it back in '79 through '81, but it's been in an airplane hangar since then. It's not in poor shape, but those years will wear anything down. I know there are a couple holes punched in the floor, the interior is a wreck, and the engine and transmission are at best a salvage operation, and more likely need a full replacement. But it's the family Mustang, and it is an imperative.

I don't have the money to get serious about it now, but I hope to in the next couple years, so I'm doing all the planning I can, and building the biggest shopping list of my life.

I'm looking forward to learning about the cars, and getting to know many of you.

I frequent a BMW forum for my daily driver (a 2004 330xi), so I'm not new to a robust forum community, but I'm sure this one will have a different flavor, and I'm looking forward to it.

awesome potential. I love the old fastbacks. doesn't get any better than a 67 or 68 fastback esp the Shelby GT500!

Thanks, everyone!

I'm really looking forward to it. Just need a few holiday bonuses, and I can really get started!

It's a gorgeous body style - that's something I have always loved about this car. I've decided I'm not going to try to turn this car into an homage of anything it's not - it won't get an Eleanor treatment or a Bullitt treatment. But what an amazing style this is to inspire so many legendary cars.

First things first: get it to run.
