New Here- Need Help!
Hi all- trying to figure out how to start a thread but am not seeing anything?
Guess I'll post my issue here.
Have an '04 Mustang, 3.9, V6.
Engine started making a loud humming noise in Sept., BUT you could only hear it when sitting inside the car.
Mechanic had a hard time figuring it out, finally thought alternator bearing- noise disappeared for 6 mos. and is now back.
This time same deal, not sure, think it's idler pulley bearing- noise came back 2 days later.
Cleaned the IAC valve which wasn't that dirty- noise still there.
Went to Ford yesterday- he used the stethoscope to listen to all parts and said everything is quiet, there is nothing obvious going on, even though the noise is there (to me like a vacuum sound and only when it idles, doesn't move up and down when pushing on the gas or turn on the a/c, etc.)
Car is running fine, no obvious issue, and am being told to keep driving until something shows itself, which makes me nervous.
Any ideas?
