Default Hello From Iowa

New member checking in. Got a current project I'm working on its a 98gt 5spd. Bought the car from a neglecting owner. Engine was week, maintenance poor, interior trashed. Major plus I was looking for when I bought it is it had a straight body and the paint was salvagable. I bought a PI engine out of a 02 LTC and am in the process of getting that swapped over. Looking forward to participating on this forum.

Haha those first photos were before I put up a ceiling in the shop. It now is quite bright in there.

Update I got the engine out tonight..... I will be posting a build thread in the project section...

More progress, old motor is finally out. Looks like I will have a lot of cleaning to do. Found some not so good things in the process though. Looks like the car had at one point met the ditch as the lower radiator support is bent in pretty good. Gonna have to find a way to get that bent back in place. The transmision mount is totally shredded and will probably be getting new motor mounts aswell.

From a safety stand point, I would have to say the integrity of that part is compromised and that. I am not an expert of crumple zones and the such, but I suspect that is designed to absorb part of the forces of impact.

You could try to hammer I straight and true, but it is not visible correct? I would suggest replacing it or leaving well enough alone. If its not broke - don't fix it!
