Default Cam phaser replacement issue

I am replacing both cam phasers on my 08 gt. I did the left hand side with no issues. Phaser came off and new one went on smoothly and put everthing back together and started it up. Still had the same timing issue when at operating temperature. Took apart right hand side today. Did my marks, used the timing wedge tool and vice grips on end of cam. Took phaser bolt out and took phaser off and went to put new phaser on but it wont reach the cam by about a 1/16th of an inch. I've tried readjusting, taking the wedge out, tried putting old phaser back on but I'm always short by about a 1/16th of an inch. I don't know if it's the tensioner or wth it could be. Does anyone have a clue how to solve this?

pull the front cover off, you let the tensioner come out and take up slack
