Dealer Oil Change

Dealer Oil Change
Hey guys, when I bought my Mustang. The dealer gave me coupons for 3 free oil changes in the first 18 months. I am torn whether I should use those in the beginning or just ante up and switch the car to Amsoil or RP right away. I was planning on changing the oil soon if I am going to go full syn. Probably around 2000-3000 miles. Then 7500-10000 mile intervals after that. What do you all think? $50 isnt going to hurt me on an oil change. Should I run the car for 18 months on Motorcraft Dino and then switch?

The dealer uses synthetic blend motorcraft oil, and they will rotate your tire while there too, its your car your call! I prefer to change mine myself that way I know its done right! Regardless of what you use there is no better piece of mind than doing it yourself

I turned down the free oil change offered by my dealer. I've never trusted the techs assigned to do oil changes.
I would just use the recommended MC oil for the first 3000 miles then consider something better if you want to go that route, but the MC should be okay. Pennzoil Platinum and Ultra are some good synthetics that are readily available (at Walmart) and a good value too in the 5qt jugs. I usually like to dump the factory-fill at 1000 miles.

The Ford dealership tech told me the same for the Motorcraft synth (not the blend, their full synth one). The full synth Mortorcraft one says they can go for 10K miles, but the tech was saying it is best to change at 7500 miles. So, once I hit 7500 on the motorcraft full synth, I drained it, change the filter to a high mileage filter, and put in RP!
