Ok ok. Look guy the fact of the matter is this: no matter what oil you choose, just make sure you change it at regular intervals. Your vehicle will give you years of reliable service.

despite public opinion, which is wrong, a true synthetic will extend the service life of your engine.

Running amsoil full synthetic you could run a 15000 mile oci. I have seen a few independant studies that suggest an even longer oci using a quality full synthetic. One such study using a 2002 Canaries z28 ran Mobil 1 to 18000 with samples tested every 1000 showed no increase in wear metals or appreciable drop in viscocity or additives. Couple that with a high quality synthetic glass media high flow oil filter and not only could you extend the service life of your engine but also save hundreds over the life of the car on oil and decrease the use of oil as well. Not that I'm an environmental type but hey why not. Decrease dependancy on foriegn oil is always a positive. On a side not for best fuel economy 5w20 would be your best choice. A little tip from an industry insider. Unrelated to any company listed in these postings.

Why everyone doesn't switch to full synthetic is a mystery to me. Auto makers should factory fill with it and go from there. Talk about an appreciable decrease in dependance on foreign oil.

That test was using Mobil 1 synthetics pre-2005, when it was a true synthetic. Since then, then have switched to a group III/group IV blend. Results would not be typical or the current formulations of Mobil 1.

However, I know, and recommend to people, Amsoil Signature Series will perform a 15,000 mile OCI easily (or one year), and this is on the severe service schedule.

Petroleum is far more profitable. Companies like Pennzoil, Castrol, and Mobil 1 allow their bean counters to make formulation decisions. Amsoil allows their chemists to do that.

I certainly agree that oil formulations should be left to the consideration of those schooled in chemical engineering. Sure the group 3 base stocks are more profitable but to call it synthetic based on a loophole in the law is down right despicable. Amsoil is a really great oil. Always been an industry leader and the first to produce synthetics only increases their credibility with me. That's why I use it. Though typically hard to find at an express lube place.
