What's the right oil for my Cobra?
Hello, I have a 1998 Mustang Cobra with the 4.6. The Manufacturer says to use 5w30. I've been using AMSOIL 5w30 and I've noticed that it's using about 3/4 of a quart every month or so. I guess it could be just an older engine and it could be burning it, I do have 95,000 miles on it. However, I live in the desert and during the summer it gets to 110 outside quite often. I wonder if I should be using a thicker oil, at least during the summer months. I don't want to harm the engine in any way, but I wonder if a 10w30 or a 10w40 would be better.

Here is what I want you to try. Switch to Amsoil ATM 10W-30
It has much lower NOACK (50% less burn off) and more shear stable. I bet it will slow your oil consumption way down.
