2002 C5 Vette (ST-2 class) tangling with a Koni Challenge S197 Mustang. This was taken last weekend at mid-ohio. Different classes so you can't do a direct comparison but none the less its pretty cool to see what a well setup S197 is capable of. Notice that the vette can catch him on corner entries but on exit...that Mustang puts down some serious rubber. Anyone know what motor the Koni Challenge cars run? is it the 5.0L cammer? Whatever it is, it makes some nice HP. If you watch until the end, the Vette shuts it down due to a power steering issue.
I thought the Koni Challenge Mustangs just used a 325hp sealed 4.6L 3V. The FR500C uses the Cammer, but I'm almost positive the Koni series uses the FR500S. So, either that car has a 5.0L Cammer (FR500C) OR it's a Koni Challenge Stang, in which case it just has a 325hp version of our motors.
EDIT: And that definitely looks like a C5 Vette to me just because of the hood bulge and fender.
Great vid!!! The mustang has awesome rear grip, pushing the limits of it at 17:53. Gave the vette some nice dirt baths on a few turns and refused to give ground. When the porsche passed on the straight he really stepped it up on the chase. Great driver... I have to go watch that again... right now.
