sounds like a blown head gasket. Do a compression test on all 8 cylinders and find out. If you need help in how to do it let us know.

Agreed, probably a head gasket. The white smoke could be oil, coolant, or both.

A compression check will show you right away or look around the heads for oil seeping at the block.

They are correct,i've done it myself.
Pull your plugs out and and see witch one looks as if it has been powerwashed(white smoke usually means coolant in the cylinder).

I'd take it back to the shop and ask them to help diagnose what happened.

thanks for all the input guys! i took it back up there and they checked everything out. i had the owner of the shop take it for a spin and it kicks (engine) @ 3000 rpms when you get on it. he thanks it could be my plugs. i changed my plugs about 5 or 6 months ago. i have noticed when you get into it, it does sputter a little even before the s/c. they thought at first it was the vacum line. but nowthey have triggered it down to the wires. fu$k this has been a night mare! they said for me not to worry! but they are not the person who just spent 4 grand!
