hollowing out a muffler

Exclamation hollowing out a muffler

how in the world do you hollow out your stock muffler. i dont have the money to buy new mufflers so i wanted to try to just hollow them out. has anyone done it before? advice. thanks

it will sound like *** just to forewarn you.


however if you wanna do it... the easiest way will probably be cut the muffler open with a cutoff wheel, cut everything out, and weld it back up.

i wouldn't hollow them out. If you want to get rid of them, I would take them off, get some pipe to extend the tailpipe and put some nifty tips on them. I think the turbulence you would create by hollowing them out would decrease power as well as provide a craptastic sound. just a thought.

the tools to do the job would cost more then buying new mufflers

also, performance mufflers for your car has been dyno proven to add about 8rwhp. you wont even feel the difference and your car will sounds awful, dont even bother.

when you have glasspacks your rev it up and spray cold water in the muffler to hallow it out... is there a way to do something like that in a stock muffler. since there is no fiberglass in the muffler, dont you need to wait overtime for it to hallow itself out?

the stock muffler has steel baffles and will never hollow out. and i have never heard of spraying water into a glass pack to get the fiberglass out. sounds stupid. glass packs get louder with age because the carbon from the motor builds up on the fiberglass making them less able to absorb the sound

why would you do that? glass packs dont do much to muffle sound as it is.....i know, i run them on my car.
