That's pretty cool. Does the winner get to have a say in the topic? or better yet, could forum members put suggestions into a seperate thread? That would be pretty sweet if you ask me.
We did this for a few months and got complaints and people wanted nominations back. Since we have brought nominations back everything has been going smoothly.
I suggest implementing a rule to round up new cars to nominate, e.g. a car can only be nominated every other month (or so), ive been seeing a pattern of the same cars (even though they are all very awesome) every month.
Just become more active in the forum and have some pictures up by then. If people don't know who you are or remember your car, you won't get nominated.
