S281 E

Just heard a rumor that saleen will be releasing an upgrade kit for the 06 extreme in about 6 months. So far injectors, hedders, and possibly exhaust is on the list. Cost is about $3,000. Should increase the HP from 550 to 650. Pretty sick. I can't wait to see what the extreme actually dyno's at. I know saleen usually underrates there cars.

According to Saleen, each EXTREME is put on a dyno prior to shipment to ensure you get what you pay for.....mine is on the dyno this week.

Even if the "rumor" turns out to be true, unless you're strickly on the strip (and $75K is an expensive strip-car!), what would you use it for? Personally, if adding headers, injectors and a different exhaust would give 100 more HP, the builder (ie: Saleen ) would do it IF IT WERE ADVISABLE to do so and still maintain street manners, idle temperatures, etc. They would love to advertise 650HP on the EXTREME, wouldn't they? But if it doesn't work on a daily basis, what good is it?

There are many ways to drive a car, and not just in FAST mode. My Viper is bullet-fast, handles excellent, idles like a kitten, no heat issues, etc. Only 500hp but a finely-tuned 500hp. Dodge would add 100hp to this if it were as simple as all that, wouldn't they? All MODS are not good mods.......

Well said Viper Personally I wouldn't do anything to a $75K car like the S281-E, except drive it and grin. Now, if the 2007 is built/shipped with this package you are talking about, this means it is a tested and certified by Saleen, and I would consider it then - but not until then.

S281 E: Heard about your graduation present from the former post below....please, please, please (did I say Please) allow yourself time to get used to this type of vehicle. I was 17 once (or twice?) and I am thankful my parents DID NOT give me a loaded gun like that for graduation. As I recall, it was a 1960 Volkeswagon and I ran that thing to the floor! Candy, in the hands of babies, is asking for trouble. Hate to assume you're a baby, but.......as I said, I was there once. If you must run it hard, and I know you will, take it to the local strip and have at it. I had quite a few friends laid to rest (ie: DEAD if you didn't get that) from driving too fast. The FAST & FURIOUS should have been named the Quick & Buried. Be careful......
