That car is so rare NADA won't even touch it. If it is a low mile, mint car then you will bw paying damn near sticker IMO. If it is high mileage or not in great shape then I would base the price on a 99 S281 plus a few bones for the SVT features [&:]

Don't have my book with me so not sure what the orginal MSRP was on the 99 Cobra-Saleen Vert. How much are they asking for it?

On rare cars it pays to have a professional appraisal done. It may cost you $200-250 but then you can get real market value for it, not just a guesstimate or "bluebook". Market value on a rare car is tyically above what you might expect. Not saying it's going to be worth a ton (it's only 7 years old so not a classic) but you'll get more than your 200-250 back.

Agreed.
Similar advice applies to the orignal owners of one these rare runoff cars. It pays to get appraised.

"Only 3 made" is incorrect. There were 20 Saleen Cobra made in 1999 - 8 coupes - 5 White, 2 Rio Red, 1 Black and 12 convertibles - 6 Black, 5 White, 1 Rio Red.

As far as value - the few that I've seen come up go for a couple 1000 more than a similar mile/condition 281SC.

What's considered high mileage for this car?

the guy is asking 21+change

could anybody recommend a professional appraisal service that you've used?

as for "only 3 made" that's what the guy was claiming. where can you find out how many saleen cobra verts were actually in '99?? is there a website or something
thanks

S281SC answered you above - 12 Saleen-Cobra verts were built in 1999

Having read the past few posts, my advice to you would be to get the bumper number and the VIN before you do anything to verify this thing is the real deal. Tell us those two numbers and we can verify it for you. This person should know ALL the details about this car (even the 1 of 12 vert stat, not be claiming 1 of 3 [&:]), and considering they don't I would be suspicious of it being a clone.

A real Saleen-Cobra vert in 1999 had an MSRP of $42k. High mileage for a car like this would be 50-60k IMO. Unless this car is in "average" shape or is high mileage, I would think $21k is a good deal if its legit [&:]

Agree with all he said. There's a few out there around $20k, but watch the miles...
Get the numbers, and check very closely.
For production figures, see my webpage, under "Production".
