Dent update
Okay this was interesting (and fun!):
Took "Georgia" to a very snappy Mercedes dealer today to inquire about paintless dent removal (following Ford dealer's creating said dent and SayWhen's sage advice to look into paintless dent repair). First of all, let me say how much fun it was to pull into their service garage... those folks (staff and customers alike) appreciate fine cars and they sure did oogle at Miss Georgia. Anyway, they have a paintless dent specialist on site and he took a look at it. Actually the snappy Service God asked if he could take it back to the PDR guy -- he was salivating at the prospect so I took mercy upon him and said yes. He first escorted me to the waiting room/latte bar (complete with THREE computer stations and FIVE choices of latte). I barely had time to survey my latte choices when he returned with my car and a report from the specialist. Turns out there is some discoloration upon (seemingly) microscopic examination so he's worried there might be a crack in the paint. He would be willing to try the pdr (for $90 he removes ALL dents on a single panel -- thank God I only have one, but that's a nice price!) but can't guarantee the results because of the possibility of a paint crack. So I asked for the name of their Big Guns auto body place. They gave me the brochure for the place and sent me on my way. BTW the Service God first confessed that he popped the hood while pdr specialist inspected the dent; he was all flushed and breathless about Georgia's pretty motor. And this was just a little ol' 3-valve! Can't imagine what he'd do if he saw one of your SCs or Es!! I would have had to locate the defibrillator! (SCs and Es come with those, right?)
Anyway, got back to work and emailed the Service Manager at the Ford dealership that caused the dent. Told him I'd be taking it to a reputable body shop in Dallas and would send him the estimate. Also that I expect a rental car if repair takes hours or days and wanted to know how much he would pay for that. His response was essentially "Don't bother me with update emails, you pushy broad. Send me estimates, I'll pay $28 per day for an enterprise car rental and then I want you to go away." Oh yeah... now I remember why my last three cars have been European!
The moral: Georgia sure did us proud, but can I have her serviced at the Mercedes place?

Exacly why I sent you to an MBZ dealership. They treat you exactly the same there no matter what you have purcased... a little c class or an S63. When I'm old enough to look the part in a Mercedes they will get my business.
PonyGirl, I wouldn't sweat the paint issue. I'd give them the green light and see if he can get the dent/ding out. If it does not turn out right then just get Ford to eat some new paint. My buddy has a 05 Mustang GT in windveil, wanted a wing delete car but couldn't wait. Deleted the wing anyway. Windveil for some reason is really easy to match so don't sweat it.
$100 bucks is what i said. $90 is a bargain.

Yes, I live in DFW (FW actually). Took it to Grand Prairie Ford and will NEVER go back! (Don't get me started...) Next time I'll drive the 60 miles to the dealer in Plano. When warranty period is up, I'll find someone local to work on it.

RE: Dent update
Amy- I would go ahead with the paintless dent removal. If the paint is microscopically cracked, not only is your naked eye not going to see it, but I also don't see you having any problems with the paint cracking any further.
If it does down the road, THEN have it repainted. You shouldn't be looking at anymore than 150-200 bucks to have it repainted. If its more than that, ship it to me and I'll fix it for free, a Saleen owner taking care of a Saleen owner. And I guarantee you won't know its ever had a dent in it or been resprayed [8D]

Wow, we got a lot of DFW people on here. I took my saleen in once to grand prairie and they tried to drive it up some ramps in their shop and scraped the crap out of the front bumper. You would think a place being a freaking Saleen Dealership would know these cars are way too low to pull onto ramps. I had them repaint the front bumper which they did without any problems. But the original problem the car was in there for was never fixed. So by now after fixing my bumper you would think they would remember not to drive it onto ramps, guess what this went on for a total of three times. They just cant get it into their heads, if you drive it on ramps, you will be painting my bumper over and over again. I have yet to go back. Actually, I wont ever go back to a Ford dealership. I would much rather pay HPP to work on my car, and not worry about idiots.
