Usually more than 100 Degrees F. above ambient is considered Maximum.

Example: 90 degree F outside temperture, maximum you should see is around 190.

Get a thermal gun, they are cheap and you will know for sure.

My stick handle gets VERY warm, hot really, during long road trips. I know the proper fluid is in there as I have replaced it myself.

I guess it is normal.
