Default 05-09 Roush (legal) Exhaust sounds like factory exhaust???

I recently had the legal Roush exhaust put on my '05 GT and was excited to start it up to hear the throaty sound that comes from the Roush exhaust.

To my surprise, it sounded as if nothing changed at ALL. I even looked under the car to make sure they didn't just put the tips on my old exhaust (if that's even possible - I'm ignorant with cars). However, appearance wise, it looks to be the way it should.

I've had a mustang before (same 05-09 body style), and added the same exhaust and it sounded amazing. Nothing like the one I have now.

I'm just wondering why it might be doing that and if it's an easy fix before I go spending another $500 on the off road exhaust to try to get the throaty sound I was wanting.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Are you 100% sure they put your Roush mufflers on it?

Yep, 100% sure it said Roush on the mufflers, which is why I'm confused lol

What else did your other car have that this one doesn't? Mid pipe change?

The only difference between this one and the previous one is this one has a Roush CAI and a BBK 62mm TB. Other than that, pretty identical other than exterior features. I bought the legal Roush exhaust kit for the first, and the same thing for this one.

I bought this setup (which is on my car now):

And you're right, it's not $500. It's $480 (tips not included):

Here are the pictures though...

I may be wrong, but from what I've read, if I wanted to upgrade from the legal exhaust to the off road exhaust, I need to spend the $480...

"As opposed to the complete ROUSH Off-Road Exhaust System (part #401339), this package does not include exhaust tips. This package allows you to upgrade from the "legal" version of this system (part #401338) to the "off-road" system."

To the $500 comment, I thought you were talking about an off-road midpipe to make it more throaty, as mid pipes are what usually what get the "Off road" in their name for lack of cats.

Dude, those arn't whats in the link. The Roush ones are a straight through like borlas/frpps, those picks look like a more oval shapped muffler but the photos on the site look like its more circular.

See what I'm saying?

Also, that part about upgrading seems to be horse****. Before you throw money at whoever said that PM me and I'll tell you what to do. I think you're getting bent over because it says "Roush" on it

You'll have to excuse the wind, but here's a video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d89181ZQjT8

VS. what my previous one sounded like (even though I didn't have the roushcharger - just regular stock GT 4.6L)

Thing is, I bought from stage3 the last time too and got the same thing. I just didn't know if somehow the installer screwed something up? I used two different places because I moved. I already didn't like the fact it's not symmetrically lined up and looks like crap.

* The bottom Roush wasn't mine, and it also had a Roushcharger (mine did not)... just showing for sound difference between the two.
