Default Edelbrock Performer 289 v. 302 EGR

Newbie to the forum...I just grabbed my first project car '84 GT 5.0 HO and am working on the first performance upgrades...I am planning to do it in bits and need some recommendations on parts. At this point my plan is:

Trickflow Cam Shaft http://www.summitracing.com/parts/TFS-51402001/

Probably GT40 Heads

BBK Headers

Holley 4180 Carb

Need a recomendation on intake manifold. What's the dif between the Edelbrock Performer 289 v. 302, is it just EGR? Any other intakes I should consider?

either inatke will work, the egr is the only difference. id suggest getting a performer rpm

that cam is way to big for you and wont work because it is a hydraulic roller. you need a hydraulic flat tappet cam if you still have an 84 engine. the good news is they are alot cheaper

id suggest longtubes and true dual exhaust

not sure on the 4180 carb, if its vac sec, dont bother, your stock 600cfm vac sec will be fine, when you make the combo more radical and get some gears you can step up to 650dp

the gt40's are a good idea if you can get them real cheap

you probably want gears- 3.73's but you definately have 7.5 rear if its stock. if you dont run sticky tires you can gear it up but it will eventually break
