Default What size rims and tires???

Hello I have a 99 mustang gt, I am looking into getting new rims and tires at first I thought about getting 18 inch rims and then I thought it would make the car sit to high. I am not really looking to lower it right now but if anyone has any thoughts on 18 in. rims please let me know, the tire size that I am going to get is 265/35/18 for rear and then 245/40/18 for the fronts, and also does it need re-alligned if I do put the rims on?

Thanks,
Steve

The 18s will look good on your car and they wont necessarily make it sit higher. Ther will still be a decent amount of fender gap though. If you want that slammed look, then definitely get some lowering springs. Once you put on new tires and rims, I definitely reccomend an alignment. The $50-$60 you pay now will help make your tires last longer by allowing them to wear better. Hope this helps. Thanks!

thanks for the advice anyone else have an opinion on this, how hard is it do springs I found a set of eibachs that lower it a little more than an inch and that would be perfect I think, I really did'nt want to lower it but I have heard that it's kind of hard to put springs in, remember its a convertible.

I've done a spring installation on a friends GT. It was not hard at all. The only big thing you need to worry about is slowly letting the front control arm down so that the stock spring does not come shooting out. I tied a chain around the spring and the frame to make sure it would not go anywhere. Other than that, as long as you know how to use a jack and a wrench, you should be fine. Let me know if you want a set of springs, we have many different brands to suit your needs. Just to let you know, the Eibachs lower the car about 1.5" You might want to check out the Steeda Sport Springs. They will lower your car about 1-1.25".

Will I need caster camber plates if I lower no more than 1.3 inches?

Thanks again.

Most likely, no. I would save the money and see if the alignment shop can get it straight without the caster camber plates. If they cant, I can hook you on pricing and take $10 off if you are buying the springs from us.

If you put them only on the rear, then you will be fine. They will not stick out past the fender. Most applications I have seen has the 10.5" wheel just sitting flush with the fenderwell. Looks pretty mean too.
