Default engine conversion

I have a 1965 mustang 6 cylinder that I want to convert to a 302 engine. I need to know what transmission will fit. Rear ends too. I would like to know if there is a five speed that would work.

Default RE: engine conversion

I did that same swap 1-2 years ago. If you find a 302 with a c-4 tranny that tranny will bolt up with no clearance issue. You can also get a T-5 conversion kit for that year mustang from Hawaiiracing.com. As far as rear-ends go, you MUST get rid of that 6 cylinder rear and put in a 8.8 or even a 9 if you can get one. The only drawback to the 8.8 and 9 is that you have to get them narrowed, unless you get an 8.8 out of a fox(I think, u might want to check on that). I went with an AOD trans and that bolted up with no clearence issues either, just a crossmember for the trans will have to be swapped. Mustangsplus.com has most of the stuff you will need.

Good luck with the conversion!!!
