You guys really love your Termi's here. ... I saw it first hand, though. From a 30 MPH roll a 477 RWHP Termi and a '99 Trans Am with a cat back, descreened MAF,and a coolant throttle bodybypass (or whatever it is). They raced up to 75 MPH and the Termi could not pull on the LS1... I saw them at a track, too. 1/8 mile, Termi ran 8.9 and the LS1 ran 8.5, I can't remember what they trapped but I know the LS1 trapped a fewMPH higher. The LS1 driver was a better driver than the guy with the Termi.

I'm a Mustang guy, too, I'm just telling you guys what I know and have seen first hand. I've seen 300 hp carsbeat 500 hp cars. It's all about who's behind the wheel and how they can drive it.

That would have to be one ****ty driver to lose to a car that is 200rwhp less and within the same weight range...I don't even think it's possible unless it's a short stoplight to stoplight race.

True, but we cant include that in our guestimations of who will win. I have personaly beaten 400+rwhp supra and a 350+rwhp evo in my stock 5.0[&:]. The only reason i won is cuz the evo kid had been driving stick for a week, and the supra kid should just kill himself. Obviously the guy in the Termy couldnt drive at all either. Theres only so much you can take into account. And anyways, if he loses to a stock LS1, his car is still faster, he's just incompetent

All LS1's dyno within each other. Expect 290-320 rwhp on a stock LS1, depending on year, tranny and factory SLP options for the ram air models. Whether it's a LS1 Corvette, LS1 Camaro, LS1 Firebird or a LS1 GTO...THEY ALL DYNO WITHIN EACH OTHER!!!!

Thats very true, but i think the original poster was asking which car would be faster, which would be the cobra. With equal drivers,a car with that much more power will win every time.

Take my car and and my friends 03 cobra for example. We're both close to stock, he has the same mods as me. Were both about equal drivers. I run 13.2's and he runs 12.7's all day long. We can switch cars and run the same times in each others cars. We decided to try it just for fun one day. Point is, his car is faster no matter whos driving it. If he screws up, misses a shift, etc, its the driver i beat not the car.

The Mustang in question should completely bitch slap the Trans Am in question. That is, if the Trans Am is really close to stock.
96GT, the owner of the Cobra in your anecdote should be led behind a building and shot throughthe head, Chinese army style. 8.9 for that car is disgraceful.

Driver Error. A stock terminator properly driven will run a 12.6-12.8.... the LS1 would have to really be driven INCREDIBLY well to hit a 12.99x and he would have to have the 3.42 gear ratio.

If your buddy in a LS1 T/A with barely any mods, actually went faster in the 1/8th - the guy in the CObra cannot drive. I wasn't driving my car very well and was in the 7.9xx-8.0xx in the 1/8 mile and im probably a shade over/under 500rwhp... My car should be running .2 faster on the 1/8th I would think with someone that knew how to drive :-).

Sorry the Terminator driver was a complete 'tard.


To the original poster... if all the LS1 has is exhaust, you won't have any issues, it won't even be fair. He probably beats up Mustangs/ N/A Cobras all the time, and has a big head... He would need a cam/stall/tires to run with you from a dig... that is good enough to net low 12's... high 11's with good suspension, gears + Driving.
