Actually everytime I went to Bradenton Motorsports Park it was extremelly high humidity. Hard to get away from that here. And LS1 Vettes always seemed to run the same #'s as F-Bodys. The humidity really does hurt us here, lol.

GM doesn't need larger displacement to get more power out of the pushrod engines. They do it for marketing value...the pushrod engines are light weight, gasoline efficient and very easy to mod.

For example, the 5.7L LT1 engine makes 300hp in the C4 Vette. The 5.7L LS1 makes 405hp in the C5 Z06 Vette. Over 100 more hp but no displacement increase. Better flowing heads are the difference. Rather than rely on valves, GM focuses on higher flowing heads..it's just a different way of doing things. GM engines breath a bit deeper than the 24-32 valve engines that they are in comparison with. I am certain that GM can produce a 4.6L with 320hp, if they can produce a 5.7L with 405hp.

As far as the Camaro goes, they get mad respect from me, just think a 1998 Camaro will still be a force to reckon with in 2008. Guys are still pullin low 13s in those thigs and even now adays low 13s is faster than most of the population...not too many cars out there in the 12s.
the C5 Z06 has an LS6

LS6 is a head/cam/intake change not just heads. it gives it a higher compression ratio as well
I know. I actuallyedited my post before youposted. I know all about the LS6, traded in my C5 Z06 before I got my C6 Z06. I was demonstrating how displacements isn't always needed to make more power. About the LS6, it has different heads, Cam, vavle springs, pistons and engine block. The compression ratio is 10:05:01 versus 10:1:1 in the LS1. No need to preach to the choir.

I went to Orlando once but I really didn't like it. Bradenton is a really good track although I haven't been there or any track since '02.

Pushrod engines are still power making behemoths. Look at the LS7, it produces more hp per cubic inch than Ford's 4.6L(note I said hp/cid, and not overall hp). And not only is the LS7 making more hp/cid than the mod 4.6, but it's doing it with the same mean cylinder pressure as the 4.6L is. Pushrod engines are still very potent

I highly doubt that. Unless he wasn't racing.
Very possible he could have beat a Z/28 depends on the year.

1987 Z28’s High 14’s low15’s
1992 Z/28 high 14’s
1996 Z/28 low 14’s
1998 Z/28 SS high 13’s

I took down a Z/28 no problem he thought I was a V8
FWIW the 1996 SS was notorious for running 13.6 ~ 13.8 bone stock.

Show me where a 4.6L is doing this N/A and we have something to compare...
