Well..... I went to Island Dragway today... first time ever..... and while I had a great time.....but I am disappointed...


since I have a Vert..... and no cage... I'm limited to 13.49 ET..... so my first 4 passes I got out @ the 1/8 and got on the breaks....

First.... I cant do a burnout to save my life!!! LOL got get some line locks to help..... I just could not get the braking down... stalled 3X... and could not get enough heat in the tires....

Then my passes:
60' 1/8th
1) 2.17 8.99@82.45
2) 2.16 8.68@82.45
3) 1.99 spun like crazy.... and shut down in 2nd
4) 2.19 8.71@85.45
only pass I raced to the finish
5) 2.30 8.86 13.396 @ 108.68

my car should be able to run low 12's..... best I could do was 13.39[:@]

I have a whole new respect for you guys run lower than 12s...things just happen so fast... and so much to remember.....

guess I'll have to go again to practice!!!

Get to know the guys at the track and they'll let you slide. I've gone to the track before I had my stang with my buddy who owns a 94 vert stang. He runs mid 11's and does not have a cage. They don't give him a prob.

what tires were u running?

With a 108 mph trap speed, you do NOT have the power to run low 12's. A high, high 12 would be possible judging by your trap speed.

Were you running drag radials?

Corners, the guys got a supercharged GT! If he does run mid to low 12's it's embarassing. He can easily make 12's if he learns to clutch drop at the right rpm and powershift. I'm sure that car has it in it! Where is Island Dragway?

don't worry about your times. it was your first time. you will get used to it. keep practicing.

thanks Doodad.... I know...but its still frustrating..... especially when u post up your monster numbers!!!! LOL.....and I know the car has more... buddy who went with me... same power set up...but with a 1pc DS, 4.10s & MT ET's ran an 11.62!!! yea he's got a lot more track time....

The car has the power... 435RWHP on BFG DRs.... I dont have the skills yet.....

Thanx for the info, u should see 12's with probably a little street light to street light practice or a couple more times of drag strip experience. Learn to powershift and clutch drop, then u can conquer any time the car has in it! Good Luck!

one bright spot I forgot to mention.... on the one pass I really paid attention to the tree..... I cut a .016 R/T!!
