With those trap speeds I think you have a 12.0-12.3 run in that car easy with a good tire. And Practice Practice Practice. I cut my time from a 13.2 (first full pass) to a 12.35 in my heavy *** vert after making about 20 passes. I think the car had another .1-.2 in it with more seat time. (I've since added some mods )

IMO - do not use the TCS if you have a good tire it will only hurt your times.

The TCS will not cause BOOM. The PCM cuts fuel and spark so there is no issue if you hit it, yes even with FI, belive me I've hit it more than once. This was also confirmed by VMP Tuning in a recent thread on a different board.

Congrats on getting to the track - to many guys only bench race and never actually make a pass!
I don't know if you're talking about all years, or just the S197's, but I had a whole thread about it in the 4.6section. So if you're denying that it's possible, that would mean the instance of TC causeing engine failure would be a lie? Sorry but I can't buy that, so I'll keep TC turned off permanently

Yea, I have no doubt the car is capable of low 12's with some good tires....considering virtually every run I made had the car squealing down most of the first 1/8 mile. It'll be a while before I can secure some drag radials for this thing, so it may a while before I get back to the track.

All in all I can't complain too much considering I'm running some lower profile tires on lowered suspension. Just alot of things for me to overcome on my launches last night, but I managed to go home with a 12 sec slip. And that's good enough for me.............for now.[sm=lildevil.gif]

Just glad I haven't pullied this thing yet. I fear it would have been ugly.[:@]

I'm running the Saleen Series VI twin screw with the stock 4.5 psi pulley. I'm making a bit over 400rwhp. Bone stock exhaust. Stock 3.55 gears.

wow, so saleen really stepped it up for the 05+ blowers didn't they. I would definately say that you should see mid to low twelves with that car, especially with the trap you were seeing, but traction would definately help

I've got a guy I work with that just bought a Cali Special GT. He has some sixxer rims with some M/T DR's that he plans to put on the car when he gets time to go to the track. He said I could borrow them the next time I head out to NPR. If I can arrange it for this weekend, I'm gonna head out there and see if I can make some passes.

Haven't gotten the specifics on the tires just yet.......just that they're M/T's.
