Default raced a civic hatch with a gsr 1.8l couldnt beat him:(

i didnt get smoked or anything but i couldnt take him, i know the gsr motor makes some decent power, and the hatch is light but i didnt think it would be that fast. im shocked kinda. we raced like 3 times. he was ahead of me a car length or so everytime even up to like 120ish

GSRs are good for 210-220 hp at the crank and they are light as well.

where are you getting your info from?? they only have 180hp and 230tq. even the GSR type R only has 190hp and 130tq. they suck pretty bad, a kid in my school wants to race me in his civic with a type R motor swapped into it but that's just a waste of gas. If the OP is all stock I guess I could see the civic winning with such lower weight, but he should have a little more power and a lot more torque than the little riceburner has

^^^^I don't know where you get your info, but GSRs were rated at 170hp @ 7600rpms and 128tq @ 6200rpms, the teg type R was rated at 195 hp @ 8000rpmsand 130 tq @ 7500 rpms. If the GSR motor was stock even in a stripped hatch you should have got the jump and stayed ahead from a dig. From a roll a lightweight car withhigh revving honda motor might have put upmore of a fight.

guy that works with me has a full interior civic hatch with a 2.2 prelude motor, worked head (11,000rpm) and it runs high 12s on street tires. with sticky tires it broke an axle, so we dont know what its capable of.

I'm not suprised you got beat. I had an 86 fox and it was a bad **** back in its day. It's not alot by todays standards.

Yea, but those h22s when built properly are animals, especially when they are built to handle real high rpms. My friend just got a dyno tune on his built and stroked k20 and it makes 273 whp at 9500 rpms and make over 250 whp all the way up to 10500 rpms. The kicker is that it makes almost 200 ft. lbs. by like 5000 rpms and it stays that way until over 7K.

I could see a GSR'd lightweight car beating a stock 86 GT. Time for h/c/i + internals.
