Track results with cam/lt's only (plus shelby bashing)
I finally got my goat to the track after having all of my work done.
232/234/595/598 cam, push rods, rockers, springs, pacesetter long tubes, 3" catless mids bottlenecked down to 2.25 flowmaster catback. STOCK torque converter, stock air intake with the STOCK paper filter.
Had issues on the dyno back in May of this year because of my cam & not enough air flow, my redline was raised to about 6400rpms, but my car peaked 350rwhp at 5800 rpms and would drop from 350rwhp down to 320rwhp by 6400rpms. So I watched my shifts and sure enough I felt the car falling on it's face. I'm pretty sure if my shift points were adjusted for this I could have squeeked near a 13.0 as it sits. I'm down about 5mph or so with my mods & cam, so a CAI and replacing my 2.25 catback pipes with 3's or going with electric cut-outs should really wake this choked out turd up.
My best run was an uncorrected 13.507@104.81mph with a 2.18 60' with a DA of 1690.
I have a 3800 stall, tranny cooler & cai to be installed on the car shortly... but this all might have to wait because I'm trying to decide if it's worth putting heads on my LS1 or if I should just start looking for a shortblock and get the heads I really want...
As for Mustangs at the track, someone had a Whipple 03 Cobra making 540hp, running Nitto drag radials and his best run was his first run.. 12.4@117mph. Car obviously has way more in it but that was the best he could do but it was his first time ever running down the track. Not too bad.
Bunch of GT500's at the track. Not sure of the model years because I want one so bad but I can't quite afford one right now so I ignore that they even exist... I was lined up with a white GT500 Convertible for most the night and the best I saw him run was a 13.1@110, there was a father/son GT500 combo and the blue GT500 that looked newer was running 12.8's. Damn...for the money they paid and that is all they got out of the cars with drag radials? Must be the drivers...nice guys though.
I did get smoked by a new Cherokee SRT-8. He pulled a 1.8 60' and ran a 12.8x @ 104.61 to my 13.507 @ 104.81 dammit!
