Default '01 GT vs. '03 G35

My 2001 GT automatic with weld-in mufflers and two rear cats off against my friends '03 G35 6-speed with catback.

Dig 1: Beat him by a car. Launched pretty good.

Roll 1: From 30, beat him by a car at the top of his 3rd.

Roll 2: From 20, he got the jump on me and got half a car and then I pulled ahead by a car at the top of his 3rd again.

Totally unexpected results for me so I was pretty excited. Maybe he should practice shifting?

Exactly what I would have expected. Those old G35/350Z cars are slow.

Good run. The Gs have definitely gone through some major changes since then. My wife has an 07 sedan and it's pretty quick. It's a 13.7-13.8 car or better.

Had a short 10-60 mph rolling race in 1st and 2nd with a G37 recently, and his front bumper was at my door.

Thanks guys.

I was actually expecting to lose and everyone always talks these cars up so much and I never ran one before so winning was pretty awesome. It was a coupe as well.

It was crazy how the 2v pulled past him on the top end. I looked at my tach as I passed him on the 2nd and 3rd run and I was at about 5000 rpm and just went right past him. I thought the 2v's got exhausted at high rpm?

2Vs do run out of breathe up top.

My wife's 07 G35 sedan Vs my friend's manual GT with ORX/Bassani Cat-back.

Yeah they made changes to the 3.5L from 03, the later revisions breathe well up top.

The VQ35DE powered cars are a bit slow. My friend's 03 350z 6spd ran mid/high 14's at about 96-97 MPH at the track. I think it had exhaust, not that it matters much.

Did the guy in the Stang get out of it towards the end when the G really started pulling?

My sis in law has a G. They are pretty impressive for what they are.
