1st time at track =(

if your anything like me your times WILL get better with practice. you might feel like your not trying as much if the tires are not spinning (I did) but it makes a big difference....get going as fast as you can with as little spin as possible. My best 60' time is 2.13 and I still have room to improve. Ive only been to the track 2 times and I can tell I'm getting better.

Practice your shifting. It should be all about muscle memory and not a conscious thing.
Pay attention to how quickly you get back on the gas when you let out the clutch. If you don't get on it fast enough, you lose weight transfer as the nose dips. Your right foot should be on it's way down by the time you start letting out the clutch.
Figure out your shift points. Oftentimes, gears are spaced differently. For example, on my car, 1st and second are somewhat close but 3rd is a huge drop, while 3rd to 4th is very close. Shift higher, even out of what you think is the powerband, if you have a big drop into the next gear.
When I was 19 years old, I ran a 12.883 @ 106.58 in my 2005 Mustang GT with an intake, tune, axlebacks, and mickey thompson tires. This was after back to back 12.94x's. Anyone can do it. Just need practice.

Can't really add anything that hasn't been said... Practice is all it takes.. Also, what part of TX were in? Track condition, DA? That plays a factor too... Work on launches, experiment with different RPMS and how much you feather the throttle the first several feet out. If you're spinning out of the whole you're just losing time. If you aren't spinning then try pushing the throttle a little further next time.. You definitely need more than a couple passes to get used to your car. It's very possible to shave up to a second off that time with more practice..
