Me and a buddy at the refinery we work at thought it would be fun to line up his bolt-on E90 M3 DTM against my bolt-on L99 Camaro SS. First race was a 40 roll and went about how I expected. He blasted out 2 car very quickly and once the Camaro got rolling it held ground and didn't give up any more distance. Second race was from a 20 roll and the Camaro threw a lean code and he trounced me with my car pulling timing. I kinda figured he'd get the best of me being about 400 pounds lighter and probably making 15-30WHP more. What did surprise me was the throttle response of his car. He pulled 2 cars almost instantly the first race. Oh well that's what I get for racing him in a Camaro, LOL
Do you hold a gear or let it downshift on its own?
I let the tranny shift on it's own. The paddles are sketchy as hell when it gets up near red line. I guestamated he was a low 12 second car before we raced with his bolt-ons. I still stand by that seeing as how my best was a 12.66@111.59. Between the instant throttle response of his 8 throttle bodys and his DTM out shifting my slutch box I knew I was gonna get it handed to me.
