Building an N/A 94-98 Cobra
I thought this sounded like a fun idea....
First off yes i realize that the 94-95 and the 96-98 have different engines....
I was wondering what kind of power can be had out of one of these. Say you had full bolt ons, full exhaust and cams... What kind of numbers could you expect?
What im wanting is a really fun daily driver and i really like this body style.
So a few questions.... If i went this route.... Would the 5.0 or the 4.6ers be a better choice?
And what would be the best mods to do and what kind of numbers can i expect?
Thanks in advance!
Adam

not too much really. I mean compared to a blower/turbo/nitrous. But a well built cobra somewhere along the lines of 300-310 rwhp. NA.

Those numbers are before you get into heads and cams right? Because you can acheive those numbers with a bolt on and mild cam GT..

A 96-98 4v Cobra engine with intake port work, ported heads, stage 2 cams, LT headers, O/R pipe or atleast high flow cats and a good tune, you should bejust under400rwhp. If you bumped up the compression to 11.0:1 then you will net another 7-8hp per Sean Hyland. I pulled this right out of his book for you!..lol Good luck ohh, he reccomends 4:10's for this set-up because of the mild cam.

Wow that would be perfect! Those are just the numbers that im shooting for!
How much would the heads/cams and intake port work run me?
Just a guess of course.
I know it would be pricey but i think this is the route i would want to go.
Anyone know of a CLEAN 96-98 Cobra that needs a new home?

because if hes wanting an all motor 4.6 the 2v is definitely not the right platform!!!!! for blown applications its great but n/a the 4v or even the 3v is your only route (to make more than 350rwhp anyway) without spending 15k

Check ebaymotors, cars.com and autotrader. Are you going to be selling your gt or keeping it? why dont you do all that work to your gt?

Could always go with a 5.0 and stroke it to 347 but I may be a tad biased . I don't have a bunch of experience with the 4.6 but I'm under the impression that 5.0s are easier/cheaper to build up while the 4.6s respond very well to boost, but are very costly to do work with regarding the heads and cams. The 5.0 has a huge aftermarket and tons of different heads/cams/intakes to choose from, but that could partially be because the 302 has been around since the '60s.
