Traction Control Problem

Traction Control Problem
I just installed a Tri-Ax Short Throw into my 1999 Cobra, since putting it all back together I am unable to turn off my traction control. ( buzz kill I know right). The light that says "traction" is on when the headlights are on, however the orange off light won't illuminate when I hit it. I have also tried hitting it and spinning the tires and it is defiantly still on.
Anyone help me out, also I don't want to buy a tuner. I want this fixed if possible.
I have tried reconnecting it and all wire look okay.

I agree, its something you did with the wireing, the shifter shouldnt have done anything. Maybe you plugged one of the wires into the wrong slot when re-attatching them to the 3 plugs(not sure how many u have but 03/04 has 3 plugs). Thats if u removed the radio cover. If not, i would remove it and check these wires for a short/pinch/cut.

Sorry should have mention that I did have to disconnect it, that and the cigarette lighters. The cigarette lighters is working, and like a said the light that says "traction control" is on, however when I click it the "off" light won't light up and traction control is still on. Tires spin a bit the green light turns on.
Do you think it is just the switch or is it something more? I find it weird that it lights up, but not the off light
Sorry if this is confusing

its possible its the switch, but if it worked correctly before you took everything off, chances are its something simple. Maybe try cleaning the connector points with some electrical cleaner and moving the wires around a bit. They make wireing kits to turn off the traction control everytime you start the car for pretty cheap, also the switches are not too expensive also on ebay (around 20 bucks). May be the cheapest option to get a new switch first and see if thats the issue.
The switch to bypass it: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1999-...item2eb4532d3d
A new switch (i think this is your model switch??) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/01-04...item231399af56

I will have to try cleaning it, however from the reading into the bypass it seems the button still has to initially work in order to set it to stay off, however it does sound like a good idea once I get this fixed, also the switch is the wrong year. If anybody knows where I can get a switch for a 1999 cobra I would appreciate it.
Thanks everyone. I am knew to the mustang world, really enjoying these forums

Do the other switches (defrost, fog lights) work correctly? Have you checked the fuse for that circuit? Possible you grounded it accidentally when you took it apart? I think it's fuse #5 IIRC. Has to be in the wiring somewhere if it was working fine before you installed the shifter. Here's a link to your switch if you want to swap it out. Might want to ohm out the switch first and see if it's working before you buy another one.
