Need some help from you Terminator Cobra guys
Hey guys here's the deal, I found an 03 Cobra with 4x,xxx miles on it. It was hit front and rear and has a salvage title, but the guy said it was repaired. I'm not sure I trust it so I want to think worst case that the car is trash. Assuming I take the drivetrain out with all parts needed to swap into a GT (I may put it in my 2000 GT if the car ends up being trash). So no cluster, computer, or drivetrain (and whatever else I need to do the swap). What is the car worth in parts? Am I overpaying for a salvage car like this? I want to be sure I can get my money back out of it. Is the car worth at least 8 grand in parts without the drivetrain? I know the interior around $1000 and the brakes should bring some decent money. But what would you guys think I can get out of this car?
TIA

wait, would you be paying 8k for the complete car or for a shell pretty much? if it doesn't have a drivetrain, keep in mind a used engine/trans for a cobra is about 9-10k. so that being said, you'd have 18k into that car to get it running again(if you did the work yourself) and you'd still have a car that was wrecked with a bad title. where as you can find decent cobra's for around 16, spend 18k and you can get a pretty nice damn nice one.

ah ok. well if it has 4x,xxx miles and runs good, then you could pretty easily buy it and take the drivetrain out, sell the seats for 600, side mirrors for 300, sideskirts, hood, bumpers, spoiler for like 1500, sell the irs for 750 and you'd have like 7000 into a complete cobra engine/trans which is a lot cheaper than finding one online or anywhere else.

Not going to part it if its nice. Just want to make sure my **** is covered if it happens to have a totally screwed frame the guy neglects to mention. You can only see so Much before you buy a car. Especially salvage.

i wouldn't touch it unless you can drive it in person and have a trusted mechanic look EVERYTHIng over.
Over on svt performance there are a few people looking for a cobra roller, but I doubt they would be interested in even a roller with a salvage title.
Just me personally though

I woundnt touch it with a 1,000,000 foot pole. You can get a good stock one for $15K and be done with worries and have resale value after you mod it up. Salvage title isnt insurable by most major insurance companies. Its a losing situation to restore a salvage double ended damaged terminator or any other car for that matter

I'd say 10K is a good deal, see if you can get it for 8 or 9 though.. The way I look at salvage is 50 percent of what average would be.
