2015 v6 Automatic shifting
#11
Actually to me it's a huge deal.
If you watch this video what this person does it push down on the peddle and leave it there and it shifts like it's supposed to.
2015 Mustang V6 0-60 Acceleration - YouTube
When I shove the pedal down all the way it gets to 8k before shifting which means it doesn't pick up the proper speed that is should. If the break in doesn't fix it it's going to the dealer to fix.
Of course I'm going to push the v6 to the max who wouldn't?
The whole point of an automatic is so that I can shove the pedal down and have it accelerate.

"You need to break in new tires for approximately 300 miles... During this time your vehicle may exhibit some unusual driving characteristics.
Avoid driving too fast during the first 1,000 miles .... Vary your speed frequently and change up through the gears early. Do not labor the engine.
Do not tow during the first 1,000 miles."
I had my 2013 at the track the first Saturday after picking it up -- so changed the gears frequently and varied my speed a lot that day! LOL
I don't think that you are hurting anything driving it hard OP and even getting to the redline. But with it going to 8,000 as you described I would take it in and have it checked over. It shouldn't be revving like you described.

Yea I watched the video you posted and didnt see anything wrong either time. But if your hitting 8000 RPMs something is wrong as hell because the rev limiter should be stepping in and stopping that from happening. My 2012 has a 7000' rpm redline and my gauges turn red when it hits red line. In my v6 it's a split second at redline. The rev limiter doesn't step in because it's only a split second.
I'm going to do my very best to not push it at all until I get past 1000 miles.
What has happened on my car is when I floor it, instead of catching 2nd gear or 3rd it just keeps going to 8000 and when it did happen I could tell it was not right and let go of the gas and it still kept climing. What I expect is once the break in period is done it will perform like the video but if it doesn't it's going to the dealer.

Here is the deal, that video is of someone with a properly functioning automatic it's not mine.

Are you sure it's the Rev limiter and not an issue with it shifting gears which would of course prevent it from going that high?
