delete plates are cheap and will give you that extra little bit of go... but it's kind of late for that now if you're already getting it dyno tuned. An e-mail tune with the additional mod could hurt your power vs the dyno tune.

IMO if you want to launch hard you need sticky tires regardless of the gear.

OP - It might be too close to call with the older Vette, because if he is so certain that he will beat you out after quoting 13.15, what's to say he hasn't changed something and is gonna be faster? Even with a sticky tire, you are gonna be fighting an uphill battle because it's going to be your first trip to the track with the new setup....instant disadvantage.

I wouldn't trust that guy with the 78 vette.. he might have a trick up his sleeve to win an easy $500.. I agree 100% with everyone who said Tires.. Drag Radials.. good ones, M&H or mickey thompsons and lower control arms. If you are a good driver upper 12s should be easy. Tires are the next thing I'm doing.. followed by either a driveshaft or LT headers.

I see your times in your sig.. not bad.. but not great either.. I've heard of stock Mach1s making low 13s.. like 13.1 or 13.0.. so if you got your time with those mods.. mmm.. I wouldn't put money on the race with the vette

The OP should have just bought a nitrous kit+DRs if they want to even consider racing for 500 bones.

Lots of responses, lol. Well, I got everything done. It made 308.4 RWHP and 317.4 RWTQ. Traction isn't going to be a major issue imo. I'm not saying I can dump the clutch at 3.5k rpm without spinning or anything, but I made a few hard starts on the way home and it didn't light up the tires like my Mach with 4.10s did. This car transfers weight ten times better than the Mach. The tires that are on it are KDWs. I'm pretty confident I'll get a sub 2.0 60' as is.

Honestly, the guy with the 78 is an idiot. He's girlfriend is really the one doing most of the talking. I'll race him, but it won't be for money. Too many things can go wrong, like missing a gear, lighting up first gear, etc.

Stock Machs have indeed made some low 13 second passes, but trying to launch a Mach with 4.10s on half *** street tires is a SOB. The car just doesn't squat like it should. I guess the suspension is too tight, idk. I could manage to roll into 1st with it ok, but I was still losing time when I shifted into 2nd and 3rd, due to spinning from power shifting at 6800 rpm on street tires. Basically, this new GT is way easier to plant imo. I don't think it'll trap nearly as high as the Mach did though. I nailed 109.8 a couple times in the Mach. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't see this S197 doing much over 106-107.

Great numbers for those mods! I think you could see 108mph easily with 4.10's.

Agreed but the numbers seem to be a little high to me for the mods but all dynos read different. I would have really expected to see around maybe around 290whp with a good dyno tune.

He said the lowest he has dynoed a S197 with pulleys, intake, tune, and catback, is 295 rwhp, with a few making 312 rwhp. I fell right there in the middle. These cars are majorly detuned from the factory. The baseline run was just over 250 rwhp.

It was tuned on a Dynojet, so it may be a bit more generous than others.

Thats the main reason I went with the 4.10 gears. They helped my Mach pick up a lot of trap, so I was hoping they would do the same for this one.
