Default 5.0 Mustang VS 2005+ V6 = Even?

I'm looking at getting a V8 to play around with and will not be trading my DD in for a year or two (V6). I want to know, since they are both rated near the same HP rating, would a 5.0 Mustang be around even with a 2005 V6? Would it be easier and quicker to mod the 5.0 up to a better HP? I know until 1999 the V8's produced by Ford were all around ~225 so I would likely get a 5.0 Fox since they're pretty damn cheap right now... but I want to know how it will hold up and if it's worth playing around with .. or if it's best to wait until I trade my DD in for a 2005+ GT...

A 5.0 Fox (the newer ones, like late 80s+) should be a little faster than the 2005-2010 sixxers.

But who cares? That's a great question to ask to answer any question, ever, especially without bothering to address the question at all. Nothing like a display of being a moron to help jump start the day I suppose.

The 5.0 will be a little faster if it's in really great running shape........otherwise a good race

5.0s worth it if you plan to do boltons

They are pretty even stock, although the 5.0 will make more low end torque, and with traction should be a hair quicker. The biggest plus to the 5.0 in this case is that it will mod ten times better than the V6 and for way cheaper. Go with the 5.0 if you want something to mod. It really doesn't take much at all to get one running 13s. The cheapest way to get a V6 running 13s is to spray the hell out of it.

Basically, what Vista said.

Exactly, who cares!!!!! This was posted in the 5.0 TECH section originally, not in the talk or even strip section. It doesn't take genius to go and actually look up specs between both cars. Seriously 225hp vs 210hp and 300trq vs 240trq plus the sn197's weigh a decent amount more. Do the math, which one do you think is faster? Also, calling a person a moron without knowing them speaks volumes for the type of person you are.

You can't look at the HP/torque ratings of two cars, especially two cars that have a 20 year gap between them, and tell which one is faster. They're both 15 second cars stock. A 2006+ SI only has 197 hp, and 137 lbs tq, and they can run a high 14 stock.

If you don't care, don't post. This is what this section is for.
