Default two way call out

ok, i've got a question here guys.

i got challenged to two different races. the first is against my buddy who has a 355 powered '68 Camaro, he says its around 340-350rwhp, with a Turbo 350 behind the 355, no weight reduction, but it's sitting on 265 rear tires (Nitto DR's).

the second is against my friend Nick who repaired my Olds. he's got a '95 GT with full exhaust, it's an auto, and he's on DR's with a little 75 shot. he's gone a best of 12.72@109mph on the spray.

now the RS, when it's done, will be running a 377 small block with Vortec heads, with a 700R4 auto (w/ reverse manual valvebody), 2.73 posi gears, and be on 255 street tires. i'm figuring around 400bhp from my engine and 430-450btq.

any input on what to expect from these two???

Will Vortec heads (as in GMPP Vortec cast iron heads?) support that much power? What are your plans? 4bbl, etc?

I would assume that if you can get 340ish to the ground, and hook up, you might be able to get'em both.

That 5.0 is running some very nice times, if thats all he done to it...

Vortec heads flow just shy of what factory LS1 heads do, i'm going to be porting and polishing them, so that will help. i'll be running either the Quadrajet (700cfm) i have or a 720cfm Holly. not completely certain on that yet.

i'm not completely certain on all the mods the 5.0 has, i do know that it's on 315mm Nitto DR's out back though. i'll have to ask what his complete mod list is again.

oh and $38 per head FTMFW

edit: here's a chart showing head flow for GM small blocks. 64cc Vortec's are what i'm going to be running (L31 heads).

i was wrong on the '95. found out he's got 3.73's, AFR heads, forged rotating assembly and the nitrous was a 125hp shot, not 75hp like i originally though, and it's a 5-speed.

i never really looked into his car too much until now.

I have no input really, but hearing your buddy trapped 109 with that setup has me believeing that my car will trap at least 112-113 mph.

Actually if the 95 has that much work done to it, that was a pretty crappy time he should be able to run much faster then that

A 95 auto with a full exhaust, DRs, and a 75 shot should do better than 12.70s? You can't be serious.

Has more than exhaust, DRs, and a 75 shot project quick. And should be good races I think, one question tho why would you go 377 over a 383?
