2011 V6 Mustang - 305hp, 6 speed auto

I can't seem to find out if it runs on 87 octane,(surely it does) and are they still using the 7.5 rear end or have they migrated to the 8.8. The standard LSD, and the GT500 LCA on the Perfromance Package hint at the 8.8 being under there... just maybe.

Not really sure how this is a bad thing? You now don't have to throw away your cash on CAI, TB, Plenum, and Exhaust and can spend it on gears or a power adder.

Just depends on how you look at it. Looking at it from the way you stated, it makes sense that having a tweeked factory car is good. On the other hand, it would be nice to know that its not stuck at whatever its going to run with the exception of gears or FI. Thats one reason I would never buy a 350/370z. It would bother me to know that what I bought is what I have to live with without dropping big bucks on FI. Knowing you can turn a 14 second car into a low 13 second car with a few bolt ons allows you to effectively mod your car without breaking the bank, and provides entertainment for people that are into modding. I do see your point too though, I guess it basically comes down to personal preference.

Take the V6 in the Tiburon... stock 172hp at the crank. People spend a lot of money buying parts for that motor. Every bolt on and an intake manifold will get you like 180-190whp. Those aren't very big gains considering they put down 140-150whp stock. But people still do it! There's a guy over on the Tib forums that got ported heads, cams, stand alone fuel system, huge intake manifold and made like 220whp.
Anyway... point is... people are still gonna do it. I bet the parts will be even more expensive too. Look how expensive 350Z parts are.

I never said it was a bad thing, I was just curious. I really don't think it will be like the previous 4.0 6ers which made large gains from very little work. And the fact of the matter is, these are mustangs and people are going to bolt on aftermarket parts regardless of how much/little effect it has on performance

This just makes a 400 hp 5.0 all that more likely. I highly doubt Ford will give the v6 305hp, and not give the v8 at least 400. Either way pretty stout for a sixxer, should make for a great FI platform.

I saw the car in person today at the LA auto show. Obviously not much to see, as it looks pretty much like the 2010 model. The dual exhaust looked great, as well as the optional grill insert. I was disappointed to see that they did not include paddle shifters with the 6 speed auto, a la Camaro. It looked like the 7.5" rear axle was retained, but it was hard to tell.
