Default 1992 LT1 vette h/c/i

I have a friend who talks of a buddy of his I might want to "run" supposedly a "mild" h/c/i LT1 vette, that has not been modified in a couple years, and when he was in texas before he moved here, he trapped 119mph. unknown ET

I have no other info, and we are supposed to go hang out with the guy in a few weeks at a car show/cruise. I'm pretty sure I would need my bottle just to secure the win if this guy can trap 119mph at sea level on motor. (I think my car is anywhere from a 109mph-115mph car on motor) I do have decent suspension, and big *** brand new micky thompsons, so if this guy shows up on street tires, I will demand a dig race, lol.

anyway, I know nothing of LT1's, I thought they NEED boost/spray to make power? are they that responsive (like the ls1's) that a modest h/c/i gets them trapping 119mph?

thanks for any info.

once the stock heads are gone, it's like opening up a world of opportunity for them. a "mild" setup (like using AI 200cc ported stock heads) can make upwards of 375rwhp on motor alone. getting into the real high dollar heads (like Trick Flow 225cc heads), well some guys have gotten just over 600rwhp out of them (most with autos too)

edit: here's a dyno, AI 200cc heads, full exhaust and CAI, CC503 cam (off the shelf cam)

I was hoping you would post, lol. I have seen you know your ****.

Well I was kinda hoping they didn't respond to mods that well, but looks like even with a mild set up, It will be a close race.

Hopefully its all power mods, and nothing to help him hook! lol

we will see, im doubtful that this will happen, but its good knowledge to have.

The torque curve of that LT1 is insane. I bet it pulls like a freight train.

Is it still a 350? In other words, are you sure it's not a 383? 119mph is quite a bit for a "mild" LT1 in a 92 Vette. Either that or his definition of mild is a 7,000rpm 350.

blech, no more 'verts. to much crap to do extra just to go fast. I wish I could afford two performance cars, but at the moment, this bucket o' bolts is all I can afford.

Good point. A 383 is very possible. the cruise is at the beginning of next month, so hopefully I have more answers soon. I have to get my new clutch installed, and adjust my roller rockers before then

I dunno man, lots of LT1 guys around here claim things like that and end up being stock or near stock.

One guy here has a turbo 350 TPI that talked up a storm running 8PSI, "mild" cam, suspension, etc... Kept claiming times like your LT1 guy, ran him with my old setup (H/C, stall, N20 (didn't use the bottle)) and absolutely destroyed him (he was probably a low 13 second car @ best).

Anyhow, point is I wouldn't get to worried until you see the car. "Buddies" tend to over exaggerate their friends rides most of the time.
