I'm talking platform not a single vehicle. Platforms are used for 10-15 years being the underpinnings for multiple vehicles. For instance the ford d3 platform was originally a volvo platform back from 99 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_D3_platform.

Currently under the fiat partnership there is no E-segment platform to replace the LX, other than a masserati frame which would be too expensive for a large consumer vehicle. If one existed then yes its a million dollar design project to design a new car on an existing platform.

where is your link for proof? stop being wrong all the time. that link just says something about being a fwd or awd platform that ford bought in 1999.

the fox platform lasted forever.. didn't stop using it for mustangs till 2005 (1979-2004, hell of a run)

What do you want proof of? That there isn't a lightweight rwd platform to be used for a new challenger? The LX platform came from mercedes. Building a sports car on a luxury frame doesn't produce the best results, just look at the camaro on the zeta platform.

http://www.insideline.com/dodge/chal...full-test.html

A road test of the 2011 392 SRT8. I remember reading this a while ago & the mentions of the newer suspension.

EPA MPG's listed at 14/22...but on dodge's website (when doing a comparison to the GT500 & SS) it's listed as 14/23. Rounding error? lol

So I am not allowed to make a un cited claim but 67 is? I will try to find something that explains cost of platform development, but it is near or in the billion dollar range. A single vehicle development is a multi million dollar investment, and its why you don't see major changes until about 5-6 years after the previous release. A platform lasts even longer because it is even more costly. If it were only millions they would change a lot more often to be more competitive.

You've never got over EPA in any vehicle you've ever driven?

99gtvert also linked to a review that explicitly discusses the new suspension and how much better it is compared to the 2010.

i've gotten over epa by going down hill or using a stupid dashboard calculator for a trip where im just holding it at 60mph. especially with a tail wind.. I think most people (and you are probably in that group) can't figure out their gas mileage because they don't know how to figure out how many gallons exactly they used for however many miles. and short trips can have completely different results vs using a full tank. in my mustang i've gotten up to 32mpg and as bad as 12mpg.. but 20 is more consistent.

Mishri never got 32mpg. He actually had about 25.4 mpg but decided to round it up to 32 because it sounds great.
