Default What kind of gains on new set up?

Ok I've been working on a few new things on the ole 87 gt since I tore 2nd gear out and my waterpump has been leaking....

I traded my explorer intake for a bbk ssi, and found out some of the casting marks was taken out of the upper but the lower is untouched

I also bought a set of trickflow 170cc heads scorpion 1.73 rockers new ford racing lifters arp head bolts so on and so fourth. But im still running the stock cam

Since the last time i went to the track i pulled out right at 100 pounds and im gonna drop about 50 more going from the e7's to the tfs heads.

So on the power side of things how much of a gain do you think I'll see going with a little more lift from the little more in rocker size the bigger better heads and the bigger itake?

On the 1/8 and 1/4 mile times what kind of times and mph do you think i could pull being 150 pounds lighter and the added power? Power numbers and previous best times are in my sig.

BBK SSI's look like sex (see below) but they're known to not make power.

I think I threw up in my mouth when I read you got a BBK SSI intake.

please for the love of god, get rid of that intake. I'm selling my old typhoon that made great power with my trickflow heads cam.

A decent head/cam combo will net you 9-10mph. My combo has net me 12mph so far, and i think its got another one or two now that I fixed a few bugs.

The SSI is going to hold you back, I have NEVER seen it perform worth a damn. But the trickflow heads are great mods.

you have a b cam right?

with the SSI though I say you will be around 300rwhp. with a different intake, probably 315ish

I didnt know the ssi was that bad off on power but i figured it would be better than the explorer..... For right now im still running the stock cam just had 1.7 rr's and now stepping up to 1.73"s.

when it first came out magazines went ape **** about how it was going to change the game. of corse BBK was probably putting money in there pocket to say that ****.

I have seen a handful of cars with that intake, and none of them performed well.

I remmeber a guy with a 347 got that intake because it says "made for strokers" or some ****.

the damn thing made like 310rwhp or something retarded.

I would say its on par with the explorer to be honest. its just something about the design that doesn't work.

you could have sent the explorer intake out to be ported, and been better off.

IMO, if your staying with the stock cam, almost any intake will be alright. but if you get a cam, get a bigger intake.

with my stage 2 cam, when I went from my ported typhoon intake, to a victor 5.0 intake which everyone said was TOO BIG, and its only for strokers, I laughed, and sure enough the car picked up noticeable power, and 2mph at the track.

If I where you, I would hold off a bit longer, get a good cam, and find another intake, ether a victor 5.0 intake, or a trickflow R intake with a box upper. Hell port the damn heads two, TEA's renegade program FTW.

you will be making 340-350rwhp, and running mid 11's with a 302

Gotcha, but i would love to do the cam and all but my boss man want my car gone from the shop asap and i cant afford to do the cam pushrods different intake bigger injecrers ect. ect. Im also sacing up to head to beach for mustang week and I soooo want to take my car lol.

But for right now i think i'll be happy with the set up and i believe i could pull around 88mph in the 1/8 and maybe close to 109-110 in the 1/4. If I can pull that off i think that would be killer for a stock bottom end 5.0.
