Default MazdaSpeed 6 vs '12 3.7

Me and my brother were shootin the **** today, and he said he may have a potential run for me. A guy he knows has a bone stock Speed 6, says it "felt" pretty good, considering they were 4 deep in it.

I told'em sure, I'd give it a whirl. Just wanted to see what ya'll fools had to say about the situation. Im guessing being a turbo'd car, I'd want to go from a dig/very low roll. But, that said, the 3.7 shines up top..... so maybe a 40 roll would do me better...? Ah hell, I'll try n get a couple different lineups, just to see what happens.

I don't know too terribly much about the cars, except that they can be decently quick despite being held back by tq management in 2nd gear, thought I remember hearing something like that anyways.

So, what do ya'll think? Discuss....

i have no idea what they run stock, but we got one in at my work on trade in the other day, and i must say the car was a BLAST to drive. felt way faster than my 2000 and the torque steer and 6speed trans make it a handful, prolly the only reason why it felt so fast lol. it should be a good race, hopefully you can pull it off.

nevermind, i looked them up real quick and you should take this pretty easily. looks like majority of stockers run low low 14's and only trap around 98. as far as i knew the new 6ers run high 13's and trap 103/104 area correct?

nope, maybe on a great run... usually they are low-mid 14's as far as I see when I go

should be a drivers race for sure

Thats what I've "heard"... round 102ish traps. Ive seen vids of 13.7's claiming stock, but I dont know for sure. Thats what I would hope for if I ever made it to the 1/4, some kinda 13sec slip with 102-104 traps.

Id be taking the run to my limiter, 115mph, so we'll see what the topend is like

IDK man, good luck.... so many of them are running low-mid 14's out by me

runs like this are super common

that and I don't think one member has broken 13's in their new stock 3.7L's yet... some are getting close though

Well, Ive beat that one particular guys 1/8th time by .3.... which means jack **** lol...

I hope to get a 13.99 slip, but ya know what they say, hope in one hand, **** in another, see which one fills up faster

I don't see it being impossible, with really decent air anyways. I outran my brothers gf's 2v, which ran a 13.7. Thats still technically paper-racing, I know, but something to kinda compare to.

You know a lil bit bout these cars Morbid, thought you didn't give these "second hand" mustangs a second look? J/p buddy, I know you know a little something bout all cars, lol.

meh, I love the new 3.7L's I just don't think they are a solid high 13 second car from what I've seen... I think they are solid low-mid 14 second cars with the possibility to graze the 14's.... they are leading the V6 pony car wars though that's for sure
