Grr.... Texas makes you get an emissions inspection every year on every car younger than 25. Costs $42 to do it too, if it fails, you get one free retest within two weeks, if it fails again, cough up another $42.

The thing that sucks here in CA is that they use to have the 25 year rule but froze it in 2000. So anything newer than 1975 will always need to be smogged unless the law is changed. So my '83 gets screwed.

I don't think thats Statewide. I believe that depends on the County you live in. I live in Travis County, which does emissions. Neighboring Hays County does not. Unfortunately you have to get tested in an emissions county if your car is registered in an emissions county.
