Default Got another LS1

Again, another one. This one is an 01 Z28. Automatic 2100 stall, built trans, 2.73 gear, full exhaust, intake, LCAs, SFCs, and just got a disappointing dyno tune yesterday making only 312 RWHP and 337 RWTQ. It's runs strong, but dynos low. Should be in the 330rwhp 350rwtq range, but whatever. Want to guess what I run this weekend? I'm hoping for 12.7-12.8, at 107-109, but the gear is hurting it. On the bright side, it's a stripper car, all manual interior, hard top, only weighs about 3300lbs as it sits now.

Congrats, on the ahhh, umm, ......... Camaro.

You know this is a "Mustang" forum right ??? lol

Just yanking your chain, congrats really, looks great and I'll throw a guess of 13.0 at 108. The 60ft won't be great but you already know that.

Just to even this thread out a little, I just picked this up last night and I'm awful proud of it

She's no rocket ship with the V6, but it's a good starting place.

There, now this thread has meaning lol.

Haha, I hear ya man! Nice Mustang, I was shopping for either an F-body or Fox, but in the end I was able to get the LS1 at a better deal and from a buddy. So when's the V6 getting yanked out of that car?

Stone nice car man. Should be easily in the high 12's. What are your plans for her and when do you plan on selling it? I may be interested, lol!

Here's the plan, if the track ETs are really bad, like 13.3s or worse then I'm going to pull the LS1. If a tuned, full exhaust, stalled LS1 can't run a 12.7-12.8, somethings wrong (really should be a mid 12 car, but yea). Doing a lot of research on the 4.8 Vortecs, which is nothing more than a destroked 5.7 ls1, some have iron block/flat pistons. Guys are boosting these motors and they are holding over 800RWHP. I can pick one up for $600, drop it in myself, do my own turbo set-up for another couple grand..thats plan B anyway if the LS1 in it is hurting. I don't think it is, just don't know why it dynoed so low. Maybe its a combination of the stall, bad pinion angle since its lowered, etc. I'll know more this weekend. If it proves to still be a stout engine, then I'm going to cam it and maybe run a 100 shot through her. BUT, I'd really rather do the turbo 4.8 and make at least 700RWHP honestly. Just tired of screwing around in the 300-400rwhp club, lol.

Make me an offer! I picked it up very cheap, so you might be surprised what I'll take for her!

It'll stay in there to see if I can get it going. It hasn't ran in 2 yrs, and when I went to put it in neutral to load it on the trailer, well there was no shifter cable connected. Either snapped or just disconnected. So that I'm thinking its still in a gear and that's why she won't turn over because of the neutral safety switch. Of course I didn't say anything to the PO, he was just happy to get his space back.

Not bad for $500,

Back to your car, are you sure 700/800 hp will be enough ? lol

Unfortunatly I think it is going to be a low to mid 13 second car the way it sits. I've been trying to talk my brother in law into doing a turbo 5.3 build for his S10. The small displacement GM motors are doing great things on boost as far as a budget junk yard motor goes. Hell even if you blow the motor you just go to the bone yard and get another for $300-500. They are a dime a dozen. Met a guy that had one in a fox last weekend running 9s!

Congrats on the Z

Hard top and a Dark color FTW! I kinda wish I had a hard top sometimes, but the T-tops are still fun on sunny days.

2.73 gears? I hear they're not that bad actually and pretty close to the 3.23's in the first two gears, it's 3rd and overdrive that's stretched out.
