Default stumped on rough idle

01 auto v6

Randomly one day my car decided to idle rough. Shakes the whole car, CEL is on..the works. So far i've replaced the plugs, wires and fuel filter and still it shakes. I just tried to clean out the MAF and throttle with carb cleaner but it didn't fix it. I'm all out of ideas now. Anybody care to shed some light?

I read something about the IAC but i'm not exactly sure what it looks like.

Take it to like AutoZone and get the code #'s. Then tell us. AutoZone will read it for free.

Just took it there and they told me the state of California (where I live) will no longer allow them to do that. How stupid...

You can get a code reader for less than $100.00

Does the light stay on constantly or does it blink? ive had 2 head gaskets go out recently and my car would shake on idle, but then progressively get worse... but when it started to happen the light would blink.

You gotta get the code to find out what is wrong.

My wife's ZX2 did exaclty the same thing. It was an O2 sensor. Catalytic sum, sum, blah.
Remember "always do what yellow pony says."
I have a friend with a monster kinda code reader (free), but the local shop that services my cars charges $45 to hook it to tha computer thingy. I can translate all these technical terms if needed!
Later. S W

if you just want to shoot in the dark... take your EGR valve off and clean that out with some carb cleaner. make sure the valve can move freely. i had the some problems with rough idle as well but i cleaned my egr and everything worked great
