i use 87 in my 04 GT. i'm using what the manual told me to use. i started with 91, but then i actually looked at my manual and it said 87 is recommended.

I use 87 because it's supposedly best for the engine, and it's damn cheap! Woot.

k i put in 87 today.,...good, i guess...now i gotta take it today cuz my engine light is on....the had all but 3 of my o2 sensors replaced and i have to replace sensor 4 today....i got the codes read, and one of the problems was "incorrect air flow"...do yall think that has to do with my sensors being bad? cuz i got that checked and apparently nothing is wrong wit my air flow (i think, for the most part)

like i said and so has everyone else 87 is what you should run UNLESS you get the car reprogrammed for 91-93 octane performance

Ya, because 87 costs less and I'm an idiot...and plus 91 is a bigger number.
...oh, and I swear I get much better MPG on high octane. [sm=smiley24.gif]


EDIT: PS, I just remembered the real reason. My chip is programmed for high octane....so forget that other stuff I said before.

Actually, the only reason to use anything above 87 is if you’re getting detonation. If you're putting 87 in, which is recommended in 6'ers, and GT's for that matter and not hearing ping sound. Anything else is just wasting money. It does not run any better. It won't hurt anything. It's just a waste.

i dunno if its just me or if the engine has to adjust to the 87 gas, but the car runs...slower now for om reason..i used to have 89 and it felt smooth but now it feels like i have to prss harder to accelerate faster....im guessig its just cuz the engine needs to adjust from 89 to 87
