Hello.
I took the car to the Ford and they said it was the camshaft sensor and the syncrhonizer, so they change that and the noise is gone.

Just curious, how much did that work cost you?

yeah but diagnostic and labor fees. He could have spent just as much throwing parts at it or wasting time. IMO it's well spend to have found the problem the first time.

Hello guys, i'm new here. I have a 3.8 auto 2002. Like 5 days ago start to make a noise by the pulleys, i change the belt and check all the pulleys and the only one that sound different was the alternator one so i changed that too. the thing is the noise was still there, sound like a little chicken by that area. I took off the belt and start the engine and i realize that the noise was from the crank pulley. Sometimes the noise is loud, sometime no and sometime is not even there.
Does anyone have an idea what it could be?
Thanks
I'd look into the oil pressure bleeder valve. If one of those seizes up, it'll make that noise. Run the car for a while. Normally, after you stopped and killed the engine, you could remove the oil cap without there being a pressure build up. If you open it and there is a loud hiss, the oil pressure bleeder valve is more than likely the cause.

good luck!

You're thinking disel engines.

add: And not even automotive disel engines at that.....

My car had that problem. Got it fixed...noise went away. That's what the shop told me anyway...and how else would you explain the excess pressure being released when I open the oil cap when before that supposedly nonexistent part went bad there was no pressure when I opened the oil cap?

Okay then, smart guy, tell me what was causing that then!
