8.8 questions

OP, your best deal would be to find someone with a already built 8.8, that's how I got mine. $650 + my old 7.5" rear for 31 spline Eaton true trac and moser alxes, FMS cover with the girdle, and the 3.73's.

all fine and dandy but did you rebuild the rear??
if not why not?? what car was the 8.8 out of and how many miles were on it and did it come from a wrecked car??
all these things need considered. yeah any fool can buy an 8.8 from a wrecked stang and drop it into their V6 car (with enlarging the LCA holes) but you never know the history of the rear. it may have been beaten to death or axletubes bent from collision, and lets face it how many GT's were driven like driving miss daisy. truth is and best advise, is when buying a used rear you should rebuild it before installing, and with rebuilding an 8.8 you might as well just get a detroit truetrac for the 7.5 with a full install kit. the 7.5 will be like brand new whereas who knows what condition the used 8.8 is in. anyways a detroit truetrac or locker in the 7.5 is stronger than a t-lok'd 8.8 anyways either used or new or freshly rebuilt 28 or 31 spline.

I just say try to find a cheap 8.8 and put some 3.73's or some 4.10's in it. About the whole factory 8.8 tloc thing, my dad was using a factory tloc and moser 28 spline axles in his 87gt running 10.8's at 132 in the 1/4 having around 560whp, and my uncle was using the stock tloc and axles running 7.50's@90 in the 1/8 in his 93 coupe. I understand that to some the factory 8.8 tloc maybe weak but at least for now with what the op has that would be fine and IMO I would just run a stock 7.5 tloc with some gears just for a quick and easy fix.

Yea well in that case just the tloc for the 7.5 and a set of 4.10's or 3.73's and that will be all you need. If you get the tloc then go ahead and get the gears as well. My friend has a few bolt on's on his 98 V6 with 3.73's and a fac. tlock and is pretty impressed with how it has been doing.

So would the Ford T-Lok be alright with a basically stock car?
I know everyone is gonna say get a Detroit TT, but All I plan on doing is gears, exhaust, a xcal3 and MAYBE UD pullies...even with that, is the T-lok still junk?
