Red face Starting Out...

I just bought a 97 V-6 about 2 weeks ago. I'm a little new to the whole car scene, but I'd like to start working on some performance upgrades. What do you think I should start with?

I think this is what you're looking for man. Usually, a CAI is the first mod people do. Cheap, sounds good, small gain.

You could start out with basic bolt ons but if you want a good increase in power you could do the split port swap. It will gain you an extra 50hp.

I probably wouldn't want to spend more than $600 bucks or so for an individual modification (for the time being, obviously). But I've decided to buy a CAI, for budget and lack of experience. Other than that, what do you think for a few hundred dollars that I would need minimal equipment for?

Get exhaust and tuner. If you spend your money wisely you will have enough for both.... Worked for me

I'd def do a splitport swap. I can't imagine how slow it must be to have 50 less hp than when my car was stock.

My buddy had a 94 V6 Stang and he thought it was a totally different engine when he drove my 99. I drove his and it felt like a 88 Civic haha. Slow as ***** and no get and go.

+1

The junkyard where I live with sell 4.2L's with install for $1,200.... You could probably do that and that would be a hell of a first mod for your car!
