How do tuners work?

There is a 4 sided tapered plug under the drivers side of the dash by the trans hump, that is your OBDII interface. There you can plug the tuner in (Or a code reader) and upload a tune, data log, read codes and erase codes. By erasing a code you dont actually erase it forever, you just remove that CEL code so the check engine light isnt burning a hole in your face anymore
The standard tunes on the Xcal are quick and easy to upload with some user options that you can change without the use of a dyno. These options include but are not limited to changing what your gear ratio readout is for your speedo (NA for 96-98 I think) or changing shift points and line pressure on automatics.
The preloaded tunes they have will change timing and fuel curve tables to optimize performance without killing streetability.
Its easy and fun stuff, well worth the cash.

If you have an auto, you will be VERY pleased. When my loss of backpressure due to a full exhaust killed my low end torque (get-up-and-go), the tuner not only fixed it, but actually it pulls better now than ever before.
